The regular autumn meeting of Second Hand Tampere ry was held on Saturday 1.11.2025 at Kaleva Hall in the Centre for Sustainable Life. The meeting discussed the future direction of the association, updated the rules and elected a new board for the period 1/2026-12/2026, and said goodbye to the association's interim period at Kaleva Hall, which ended at the end of October. A warm thank you to the City of Tampere for the space and to the people of Kaleva Hall for the communal and inspiring environment.

New Board of Directors for 2026
The autumn meeting elected the new board of Second Hand Tampere ry:
- Leena Aalto (resume)
- Anne Korkala (continued)
- Kristiina Paananen (resume)
- Juulia Heinämäki (resume)
- Laura Hietaniemi (resume, elected 5/2025)
- Niilo Rautio (new)
Niilo Rautio joins the Board as a new member after founding member Sari Tuomaala retires at the end of the term. Sari has played a significant role in the development of the association. For the first two years of the Association, a warm thank you to Sari for her time, expertise and contribution to the Association as a whole.
“We selectively do the most important core things, with good humour and quality. Next year's focus will be on finance, visibility, member benefits, professional days, the Tavara-asema Second Hand event and a few other things. There is no shortage of expertise and plenty of ideas - now we are strengthening our sustainable and responsible approach in the long term.”
- Leena Aalto, Chairman of the Board
The forthcoming term of office will exceptionally be only 1 year. An amendment to the rules of the association was approved, according to which the term of office of the Board of Directors will be one year instead of two years. In this situation, as a young association in a state of transition and a vibrant organisation, a one-year term of office was considered more realistic than two, although it was seen as a better option for the continuation of the association.

Looking ahead to 2026 - building the foundations with enthusiasm and patience
The meeting reviewed and endorsed the 2026 Action Plan and Budget Guidelines.
The aim is to:
- consolidating the association's activities, status and brand
- increasing and targeting awareness and impact
- stabilising and safeguarding operations and funding
- clearer division of labour and stronger leadership (strong need identified for a separate Executive Director to consolidate activities)
Next year, the Association will place particular emphasis on the quality of implementation of what has already been agreed and planned. The Association will also seek to play a more active role as a facilitator, so that any brilliant ideas can be implemented by its members.
”You don't have to do everything at once, but what you do, you do well.”
- Target for 2026
Possible and already planned projects for 2026 include:
- Developing the Second Hand Tampere map and improving its visibility
- strengthening member services and networks
- The Second Hand event at the Tavara station
- City of Repair 2026 project (Mansen Masses vote and funding)
- Further development and mapping of the Second Hand store idea
- Professional days in cooperation with other actors
The Maltese Year also means boldly seeking funding and professionalising activities to ensure sustainable resources for the association's work. This will also be helped by bright project ideas and the courage to create something new.
At the end of the formal part, the supervisor Sari Puutio talked to us about finding, fixing and prioritising your own story. Thank you Sari!

Looking ahead to 2026 - building the foundations with enthusiasm and patience
The meeting also approved several changes to the rules, the most important of which were:
- the possibility of a new corporate membership (no voting rights), through which companies can support the association's activities
- the membership fee will in future always be decided at the autumn meeting
- alternate members will also be appointed to the Board in the future (to be discussed further at the spring meeting)
- clarification of the meeting schedule and rule change processes
The updated rules can be found on our website at the end of the Association page.
