Second Hand Tampere ry, founded in autumn 2023, operates at the interface between retailers, circular economy operators and consumers, strengthening the second hand field in Tampere and Pirkanmaa and the preconditions for a circular economy.
Mission & Vision
The mission of the association is to strengthen the position of second-hand goods in Finland and to make the second-hand sector visible and easy to find for consumers. Tampere is to be positioned as the second hand capital of Finland, and the association's activities will be expanded to a nationwide level.
What we do
- We act as a link between retailers, circular economy operators and consumers.
- We develop and strengthen the conditions for second hand and circular economy activities, with a focus on Tampere and Pirkanmaa.
- We bring together circular economy actors, businesses and communities in the region and act as a network driver.
- We open and maintain the debate on more sustainable consumption and the circular economy.
- We collect, produce and share information on the circular economy and circular economy behaviour.
- We engage, insight and educate through workshops, low-threshold events and other activities.
- We publish and develop Tampere's second hand and circular economy map, which makes it easy to find the players in the sector.
Why this is important
The recycling of used goods is one concrete way to promote ecology and responsible consumption: extending the life cycle of products, saving natural resources and creating new activities for communities. As an association, we aim to make second-hand activities a natural, visible and valued part of urban culture and everyday life.
